 Why kids yoga?

Children and youth benefit from yoga as it enhances their physical body, through increased strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and body awareness, as well as awareness of their mind. Through mindfulness and breathing their concentration and calmness improves, Through doing yoga, children will exercise, play and bring out their inner spirit and light to shine through positive affirmations and talking about emotional health and wellness.

Janice meets the children where they are at and through the classes helps each child meet their potential physically, mentally and emotionally. Janice provides structure to the classes in a playful way however is extremely flexible, going with the flow, as kids ideas can erupt and make the class more interactive and fun. Janice is the facilitator to assisting the children to grow and learn how to move their bodies, handle their emotions and love themselves for their uniqueness.

Why invest in yoga or kids programming?

All children are curious and amazing. They want to please and be genuinely happy. They are resilient, open and honest. The programming is not about ‘fixing’ kids as they are wonderful already. It is about giving them life skills to bring out the best in themselves. I honestly wish I had this opportunity when I was growing up or when my children were little.

Children and youth are receptive to learning and receiving information about how to navigate the social context in which they live. Often children can struggle at a very young age with social skills, emotional awareness, stress, anxiety, academics, sleep, bullying, inattention, body image, emotional regulation and more. Some children may have underlying conditions such as autism, depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD. Some children do not struggle and socially are doing well.

Wherever your child is at, the programming meets them where they are and their social skills can be improved, understood, accepted and tools can be learned. The curriculum utilized was developed by JMJ Coaching in which I am in partnership with. JMJ Coaching has been providing, very successfully, these series of workshops, coaching and day camps for the past five years. You can check out her website for testimonials @ jmjcoaching.ca

How do the day camps and series programming work?

Through using therapeutic arts, crafts, yoga, mindfulness-meditation, and group coaching the time will be structured for optimal learning and facilitation with the goal to provide tools for the children to be their best selves.  There are five week series, day camps and even weekly kids yoga classes.

 Why yoga?

Yoga works with the mind, body and spirit/heart. Yoga can assist with focus, slowing the mind to aid in better sleep, as well as reducing brain activity to relieve anger, frustration, anxiety, worry and stress. Benefits for the body are abundant: increased flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, improved bone health and improved cardio and circulatory health. Yoga will be offered during every session.

 Why mindfulness?

Mindfulness is important for the body, mind and spirit. There has been reported feelings of being grounded, centered, relaxed, calm, along with feelings of self compassion and gratitude. Once the skill is learned, mindfulness can aid in improving focus and emotional regulation.

 Why group coaching?

Coaching in a group setting will allow for exploring of emotions, accepting self and supporting each other. Games, role play, peer support and conversation will lead the way through discussions of various life themes.

Thank You so much Janice! ***** has enjoyed your classes so much, she talks of it often and brings out her mat to stretch all the time at home. I can't believe what a difference it has made in her strength, balance and flexibility in such a short time. She is now able to do certain skating moves with ease as compared to the beginning!
